Art
My art practice invokes a sense of liminality; the space between, inside and outside, life and death, light and dark - a skin almost. I use light-sensitive materials to record this spatial moment, painting with light and shadow. The resulting luminograms are used as source material for my multi media two and three dimensional creations, which allow me to further investigate what exists between. The natural forms in my monochromatic work create subliminal resonances in the viewer through their allusions to the body; there is both a sense of attraction and repulsion, a pulling and pushing away, even the abject. I work in a variety of mediums and I push materials in new and unexpected directions creating a strange beauty.
